We train pharmacists in the science of medicine
Pharmacists are specialists in medicine who play a part in medical care along with doctors and nurses, and the importance of their role is growing rapidly. At the Teikyo University Faculty of Pharma-Science, we train humanistic pharmacists who not only have advanced knowledge and skills in medicine, but also in basic fields such as chemistry, and who also have a mind for science. We provide practical, hands-on education by making use of a well-equipped medical education environment, such as the hospital affiliated with the School of Medicine.
We provide pharmacy education by utilizing our strengths as a comprehensive medical university.
The Faculty of Pharma-Science operates under the educational philosophy of "pursuing medical care through medicine." We aim to train pharmacists who are trusted by other medical professionals such as doctors and nurses, as well as by patients.
The Faculty of Pharma-Science provides learning support through its facilities and operations, such as the Research Center for Pharmaceutical Education, which offers individual study counseling, and an environment where each current student can use ICT equipment to study on their own.
The Faculty of Pharma-Science, the School of Medicine, and the Faculty of Medical Technology are brought together for students to learn practical team medical care. Students will develop a mindset for team medicine in an ideal educational environment where they can learn with an awareness of their own profession.
The Teikyo Yakugakukai is a workshop held once a year for the purpose of postgraduate education. Participants acquire practical knowledge about drug treatment by listening to lectures that cover about two topics per workshop.
The Faculty of Pharma-Science has more than 30 laboratories, including one supervised by the Pharmacy Department of Teikyo University Hospital, where current students can study a variety of research topics.
Located in Sagamihara, Kanagawa, the Teikyo University Medicinal Botanical Garden has been upgraded by reconstructing the greenhouse, making part of the garden's walking paths barrier-free, and improving the pond.
The Research Center for Pharmaceutical Education, the Learning Support Committee, and the instructors work together to provide detailed learning support with the goal of helping students pass the national exam through a practical curriculum.
We nurture pharmacists with a scientific understanding of medicine who are trusted by medical teams and local communities and have specialized knowledge and skills, a rich humanistic disposition, and a mind for research, as well as the ability to identify and solve problems and improve themselves.
The faculty has a pharmacy practice room for conducting basic experiments, as well as a practice room for preliminary training for drug dispensing and drug administration guidance prior to practical training, allowing students to experience what it is like to be on the frontlines of medicine.
Pharmacists are active in the medical field, pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics companies, and government. The Faculty of Faculty of Pharma-Science complies with the Pharmaceutical Education Model Core Curriculum, constructing a 6-year pharmaceutical education curriculum that considers the relationships and sequentiality of each specialized pharmaceutical subject, and acquires advanced specialized knowledge and skills as a pharmaceutical specialist. and develop clinical practice skills. In this faculty, we conduct education on humanities and communication as a compulsory subject from the 1st to 5th grades, and it is characterized by education of medical personnel with patient-centered medical practice in mind. Taking advantage of the learning environment on Itabashi Campus, where the Faculty of School of Medicine, Faculty of Medical Technology, and the School of Medicine Hospital are concentrated, Faculty of Medical Technology School of Medicine offers collaborative education with School of Medicine Faculty of Medicine Hospital, such as participation in hospital conferences. Through practical collaborative learning such as basic lifesaving and Team Medical Care practice, students learn the mission and role of a pharmacist and at the same time develop a rich sense of humanity.
