Learning Environment and Learning Support

The Utsunomiya Campus, where the Faculty of Science and Engineering is located, has a wireless LAN, and has adopted a learning support system and class attendance management system that utilize the Internet. In addition, we have set up a place for interaction such as a learning support room where students can ask with a full-time faculty member about what they did not understand in the class, a view hall that promotes cooperation between students, and a peer support room. We provide an efficient and comfortable learning environment.

Learning environment utilizing the Internet

Deploy a wireless LAN environment

Install a wireless LAN environment that students can use on campus
The Utsunomiya Campus has a wireless LAN that students can use freely, and issues IDs and passwords to each student. It can be used on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors of the main building, the Department of Regional Economics Building, and the view hall on the 3rd floor of the library.

Utilization of learning support system LMS

Utilization of learning support system LMS
Our university has adopted LMS (Learning Management System) as one of the educational infrastructures. LMS is a lesson support system that distributes course materials, conducts quizzes, accepts assignment reports, and watches lecture videos via the Internet. Students are always able to keep track of their learning scope, exam results, progress rate, etc., thereby clarifying the goals of their efforts and the path to improving their academic achievements. Student responses are also collected in the form of questionnaires and fed back to the lesson content. Many students are actively using it to improve their academic ability because they can study at their own pace outside of class hours.

Learning Support Room

Learning support room
The learning support room is designed to be a place where students can work together to think various issues related to learning. In particular, the counseling room is available for students who feel lacking in some areas of pre-university studies, or who have concerns about university classes. The counseling services include not only class content, but also study methods, how to find materials necessary for study, introduction to materials, how to prepare for qualification exams, and advice on career paths. Staff who have high school teaching experience support 5 specialized subjects (English, Mathematics, Physics 3, Chemistry, Biology) for each day.

View hall

View hall
The view hall, located on the 3rd floor of the library, has a movable tables in addition to individual desks where multiple students can gather for group work and preparation/revision of daily studies while having a conversation. The wireless LAN environment is also available, and students can study with discussions using various information such as electronic information and printed materials.

Peer Support Room

Peer support room
"Peer Support Room" is opened so that students can have a richer campus life. Peer support is a mutual support activity in which students learn from each other, and the purpose is to improve students' active attitudes and communication skills, increase the number of students who work on issues independently, foster a sense of unity and cooperation among students, and develop a student community. It is intended for training. It can also be used as a venue for a variety of activities outside of learning, including training and support for volunteer activities and social skills training programs.
