Fukuoka CampusAssistant Professor Sekikawa and Associate Professor received the Grand Prize and Certificate of Merit Award at JRC2024

JRC2024 was held at Pacifico Yokohama (Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture) from Thursday, April 11th to Sunday, April 14th, 2024. At the 80th General Meeting of the Japanese Society of Radiological Technology, Assistant Professor Yuya Sekigawa Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology Department of Radiological Technology won the CyPos Award Grand Prize, and Associate Professor Hidemi Kamezawa of the same department won the Certificate of Merit Award at the 3rd International Conference on Radiological Physics and Technology.
JRC2024 is a joint academic conference consisting of four societies: the 83rd General Meeting of the Japan Radiological Society (JRS), the 80th General Meeting of the Japanese Society of Radiological Technology (JSRT), the 127th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Medical Physics (JSMP), and the 3rd International Conference on Radiological Physics and Technology (ICRPT).

Assistant Professor Sekikawa gave a presentation entitled "Development of a method for generating myocardial blood flow images from human coronary angiography images." His work, which investigated the usefulness of myocardial blood flow images derived from human coronary angiography images using Patlak plot analysis, a method used in the field of nuclear medicine, was highly praised and won the top prize out of all presentations at the JSRT.

Associate Professor Kamezawa gave an oral presentation in English titled "Novel radiomics/dosiomics-based treatment failure prediction for pharyngeal cancer patients," in which he constructed a new model for predicting treatment failure (recurrence and metastasis) for head and neck cancer by applying topology to CT images and radiation therapy dose distribution information, and devised a method to predict the possibility of treatment failure at the time of treatment planning, which can contribute to the selection of more appropriate treatment methods. In recognition of this, he received the award.
It is expected that these research results will make a significant contribution to future radiation medicine.
